The candle flickers away its last life
The light goes out
The wick melts into itself
A solemn death
Making a final stand against the darkness
For hours it staves off the night
It fights a losing battle
In all of its meekness
It stands relentlessly up until its demise
But with its final whisp,
It finds salvation
With a final breath,
It understands its purpose
It darts and flickers a final time
Before its waged war is reinforced
By the first light of dawn,
The sun allowing it both peace and reprieve
As a child in the arms of his father,
It finds rest now comforting
It fears nothing
And delights in an end
For he has won
The blackness has once again
Been forsaken.

I love the flow and imagery of this peice. Strongly reminded me of Dylan Thomas's "do not go gentle into that good night." Outstanding effort :)
